The Vacaville Unified School District partners with the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club to offer an after-school education and safety (ASES) program with the goal of providing safe and educationally enriching alternatives for children at the end of the school day.
ASES is a state-funded program that focuses on literacy, academic enrichment and safe constructive alternatives for students. VUSD currently operates the program at four elementary sites: Fairmont, Hemlock, Markham, and Padan. Each site has limited enrollment space, and is available for all students in 1st - 6th grade.
The program begins promptly at the end of the school day and continues until 6 p.m. every school day. A nutritious snack is provided each day as part of the program.
The ASES Program provides tutoring and/or homework assistance designed to help students meet state standards in one or more of the core academic subjects. Enrichment activities may include the visual and performing arts, music, physical activity, health/nutrition promotion, and general recreation.
