Dear Hemlock/ACE Families, Students and Staff,
Welcome back to school! I am honored to lead a school with such amazing students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive community of families.
I come to you with a wealth of experience both as an educator and as a program manager of a non-profit, where I coordinated the work of more than 40 agencies and organizations. During my time in K-12 education, I’ve served as an elementary school teacher, a K-8 ELD and Reading Intervention Teacher, and most recently had the great joy of serving as your RTI Coordinator at Hemlock & ACE. I also worked to co-found a K-8 charter school that focused on interdisciplinary, inquiry-based units and a strong commitment to school culture.
While part of that school’s leadership team, I helped build the school’s systems and structures from the ground up, became the go-to leader for thorny behavior problems, created & facilitated professional development, coached & mentored teachers, and was a five-time presenter at the EL Education National Conference.
When I’m not working, I love to walk and hike, or de-stress with reality TV (my guilty pleasure!). I have two young adult children, and spending time with family and friends is what fills my bucket.
I deeply value each of our three distinct programs, Hemlock, ACE, and TAP. While each of our programs has its own strengths and needs, together we are one family, with a shared commitment to our students. Together, we will create a culture where students love to come to school and staff love to come to work, and where we keep students’ well-being at the center of every decision we make.
I look forward to working with you this year and I thank you for sharing your children with us!
In partnership,
Nicole Bandy
